PBEM
PBEM stands for: Play By Electronic Mail. This means that one player loads the Salvo PBEM battle, logs in and plays a single turn for his side. Then the player saves (automatic at end of turn) the battle and Salvo quits. The battle can then be attached to an Email and sent to the second player, who repeats the process for his side. IDs and Passwords are set on the first round, and must be entered for each player to log into command of his fleet.

1) Start Salvo.

2) Click on the 'Play' Button on the mission book.

3) Go to the last battle by clicking on the 'Right Arrow' or pressing the 'End" key.

4) Click the 'Load PBEM" button at the bottom of the screen.

5) Select and Load the Battle you want to Play.

5.1) The game must be either an un-played game, or a previously started PBEM game. If the game has already been started as a HotSeat, or as a Net Game then it will not load and you will receive a warning message.

6.2) You can change your ID and/or password at the start of any turn by first entering your current ID and Password and then clicking on the 'Change ID & PW' button. Refer to the ' Changing an already set Password' section for more information.

7) Play Your Turn.

8) When you end your turn, Salvo will automatically prompt you to pick a file name to save the PBEM game.

9) Email the game as an attachment to your opponent using your standard email software.

HotSeat
Click 'Load Hotseat' battle to open a dialogues box to select and open a Salvo battle. In a Hotseat battle, two human players oppose each other on the same computer by taking turns. After a battle is saved as a Hotseat battle, it can only be loaded as a Hotseat battle, and the correct (set by the players) ID and Password will be needed for each side.

A) Start Salvo

2) Click on the 'Play' Button on the mission book.

3) Go to the last battle by clicking on the 'Right Arrow' or pressing the 'End" key.

4) Click the 'Load HotSeat" button.

Use the New 'Move Undo' Feature
Salvo 1.5's 'Move Undo' allows you to be absolutely sure about where you move your ships to. If a position is not quite right, you can undo the action and try a different move. Follow these steps to try it out:

Select any mobile ship in your fleet.

Click on a Move Marker.

The ship will move to the designated location.

Press the 'U' key and the ship's movement will be erased.

Reselect the ship and move to another location

Limitations!
Move Undo has only a short memory, so it must be used immediately after the ship is moved. The following events will prevent Move Undo from having the desired effect:

    • The ship runs aground
    • The ship looses the wind (sailing error)
    • Another ship is selected
    • The ship is reselected
